Each and every single day, literally millions and millions of messages are sent out on Twitter – in the overwhelming majority of these tweets are lost to time and completely ignored just moments after they have been sent out!
We live in a world that is completely used to over communication. Because we now have the ability to communicate with anyone and everyone we want to – celebrity or otherwise – anywhere on the planet with lightning like speed completely free of charge we really abuse this privilege, and there is way more “noise” in the world today than ever before.
Now imagine trying to set up a brand-new Twitter account for your business and reaching your perfect prospects in this flood of constant communication. It just doesn’t seem possible, does it?
Thankfully though, nothing could be further from the truth – though you do have to be pretty smart and savvy about the approach you take to market to your prospects.
For starters, you need to be completely clear and completely consistent with the messages you have flowing from your Twitter account
The one thing that is going to help separate you from the rest of the pack on Twitter – which can get really, really messy in a hurry – is a completely clear and consistent message and voice that you use every single time you post, something that your prospects can uniquely identify as you even in a flood of tweets.
Now, this isn’t always the easiest thing to pull off for sure, but the advantages in creating that consistent and streamlined far outweigh the difficulty in finding and establishing that voice to begin with.
You have to be unique – and maybe a little bit controversial – to capture attention today
Spouting the “same old, same old” kind of messaging with your target market just isn’t going to cut it any longer. With everyone saying exactly the same thing, repeating it over and over again, you just aren’t going to drama any real excitement – and that means you are going to be ignored right out of the gate.
When you create a unique, interesting, compelling, and perhaps controversial kind of message on Twitter you are going to set the “Twitter universe” on fire and that means you are going to be pulling in eyeballs left and right.
When that unique messaging is in line with your branding, your products, or your services you’re able to create a flood of organic targeted traffic that just wouldn’t have existed otherwise. This is the real sweet spot you want to strive for when you are using Twitter as a tool for business!
